Early this year, UNC Chapel Hill announced one of the most significant expansions in the school’s history - the establishment of the new Carolina North Campus, located roughly 1.6 miles from the main UNC campus (and directly across the street from Coker Place).

Construction on phase one would begin in 2027 under UNC Chancellor Roberts’ proposed timeline. Phase one would include undergraduate housing for more than 2,000, academic research buildings, a hotel and retail spaces.
